About

Welcome to the Shortridge Daily Echo.  The Daily Echo was the first daily, student produced newspaper in the United States.  First appearing on September 27, 1898, the inaugural newspaper had only one page of news with the back page filled with ads.

In the first semester of the 1970-1971 school year, the paper stopped publishing as a daily newspaper and became a weekly, 8 page publication.   This continued until 1981 when Shortridge High School closed its doors.

In 2010 the Daily Echo found new life as part of the new Shortridge Magnet High School for Law and Public Policy, first as a print weekly, and now as an online only journal keeping students, staff and alumni up to date with the happenings in the Blue Devil nation.
